Year 7 English
BackYear 7 English studied the Agincourt Speech from Henry V as part of their Introduction to Shakespeare. They discussed the persuasive techniques Shakespeare uses and then wrote their own version of the speech.
Below are two excellent examples.
I know that you are all cold, hungry and tired, but we are still strong! We will beat the French together! What should we do? We should beat them! Be our own knights in shining armour! Be heroes – your country will honour you. From this day for-ward, we will stand brave and mighty. We will protect our country and fight the enemy fiercely. Let’s eliminate and obliterate them.
We will do it together for our tribe; we will not let anyone stand in our way. We will eliminate the enemy until there are no more living on earth!
Harrison Butler
Why, my men, why do you weep? The honour of your life lays within your own power. For the country of our enemies has spilt the blood of your comrades. We shall fight side by side, not just for our own revolution but the possibility of a great revolution everywhere! We shall crush our enemies. No matter whether you live or die through this battle, your memory will live on as the creators of a new Europe – your soul will live on through your sacrifice! Now men, we charge!
