Achievement Team Leader – Year 8
BackDear Parents/Carers,
It is a great honour and privilege to be the Achievement Team Leader of Year 8 at Cecil Jones Academy. I aim to ensure that your child is able to be the best version of themselves as we embark on their educational journey together. I aim to foster a positive learning environment throughout the year group that is built on a foundation of mutual trust and respect. I look forward to working alongside you and your children to ensure they reach their full potential at Cecil Jones Academy. The students in year 8 have an exciting opportunity to continue to develop and encourage their love for learning that stems from a passion to achieve their desirable goals. This academic year brings a multitude of opportunities to develop their resilience, work ethic, curiosity, and academic abilities, to allow them to achieve their full potential and become healthy and ideal individuals who are successful in their careers and personal lives. Year 8 is an important year as the students start to think about their futures and which GCSE options are most ideal for their future plans. As they begin to plan their futures, they will have access to a broad curriculum where they can continue to practice and build on their individual skill sets. They will start to work on their independence by taking accountability, ownership, and responsibility over their educational careers. Year 8 students must maintain the high standard and expectations they have already set for themselves by continuing to have a high level of academic attendance, punctuality, and attitude for learning which includes being prepared with their planners, reading books, equipment, and PE/Dance kit. They must continue to follow the school's code of conduct and ‘be in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing’. If they fail to meet these standards and expectations, then sanctions will follow which will require them to take ownership over their actions. I eagerly look forward to the rewards, trips, events, and opportunities our year 8 students will be able to be a part of. Students who consistently meet the high expectations can expect to be rewarded for their consistency in a variety of ways. Sport captains, form reps, and anti-bullying ambassadors also have a unique opportunity to be a voice for their peers and engage in events that are tailored around their responsibilities. I look forward to working alongside these students to see what we can do to ensure our students have the best possible educational experience. Year 8 can be a challenging time for our students; however, our Year Care Team and I aim to be a consistent point of call and voice of reason to ensure students are stretched, challenged, and supported in all areas of their lives. We require parents to be active in the education of their children as studies have found students who have parents who are actively involved in their education will perform better in their educational studies. I am confident that with your help, our students will have an exceptionally successful year with various celebrations to showcase talents, successes, and achievements.
Yours sincerely,
Miss S-R Connolly
