Application to Sixth Form

Cecil Jones Academy 6th Form recruiting now for 2024. 

Making an application to the Sixth Form at Cecil Jones Academy is the first and best step on your journey beyond year 11.

Applicants will need to select three subjects from the option blocks shown below.

References will be requested from your current school.

Subjects that are in the same block are timetabled at the same time so cannot be taken together.

Entry Requirements

3 A Levels FIVE GCSE Grades 9 – 4
Including English and Mathematics
3 A Levels with an AS Level
(AS carried forward to full A Level if successful)		 Grades 9 – 7 in all GCSE subjects

 

Subject Specific Requirements

A Level Mathematics Grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics
A Level Biology or Chemistry TWO Grade 6s in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Combined Science
A Level Physics

TWO Grade 6s in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Combined Science AND

Grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics

The key dates for the 2025 admissions process are:

  • Thursday 14th November 2024 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
    Sixth Form Open Evening
     
  • Friday 17th January 2025
    Deadline for returning application forms
     
  • February 2025
    Interviews of internal applicants
     
  • March 2025
    Interviews of external applicants
     
  • April 2025
    Offer letters issued
     
  • Monday 23rd & Tuesday 24th June 2025
    Sixth Form Induction Days
    All applicants will be invited to two days of taster sessions to sample life in the Sixth Form to support final subject choices.  Please ensure you are available to attend both days.
     
  • Thursday 21st August 2025
    Final Interview with a member of staff & confirmation of place
    External applicants will need to bring their results with them
     

Applicant Interviews

Each applicant will have an interview with one of the Sixth Form team to look at their subject choices and combinations. Reports and tracking data will be looked at to see if they are likely to achieve the grades needed for the subject(s) they have chosen. If you would like to attend this interview with your child then please indicate this on the application form.
