English Work and trip to An Inspector Calls
BackEnglish trip to An Inspector Calls:
On Thursday 30th of March 2023, The English Department took students from years 9, 10 and 11 to see a production of An Inspector Calls at Churchill Theatre. An Inspector Calls is a set text for the English Literature GCSE course. The production was excellent, from set, costume, acting and true to the text. Students engaged with the action of the plot with significant interest in following the relationship of Sheila and Gerald and erupted with cheers when Sheila slaps Gerald after it is revealed he cheated on Sheila with Eva.
Emma Taylor commented that the production was eye opening, amazing and excellent. I was especially impressed with the performance skills. I hadn't realised the double meaning of the title of the play.

English work this week:
During half term, four English students explored the language writer’s use in adventure writing. Year 7 Plath class have cre-ated their own mythical creatures and wrote to describe the creature. Students took inspiration from Smaug, the dragon featured in The Hobbit, and The Jabberwock from the Lewis Carol poem Jabberwocky.
